Hello and Welcome! I’m really glad you’re here. Reaching out for support is a meaningful step, and finding the right therapist matters. I’d like to share a bit about myself so you can get a feel for who I am and how I work.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) in Georgia and have been working with clients since 2013. I began my career in community mental health, providing individual, group, and family services, and later moved into teaching and supervising counseling students at the University of Cincinnati while continuing my clinical work. Since 2016, I’ve been in private practice in Atlanta, where I specialize in the treatment of OCD and anxiety.

My work is grounded first and foremost in evidence-based care. I use research supported approaches-such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposures and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), somatic processing and DBT-informed skills-to guide treatment. At the same time, therapy is never one-size-fits-all. We collaborate closely to identify your goals and tailor the work to what feels most helpful, relevant, and sustainable for you. For young adults, this may also include involving family members or offering parent support sessions to strengthen progress outside of therapy.

When working with OCD and anxiety, I stay closely committed to creating a warm, safe environment where we gently explore the parts of life that may have been shut down or made smaller by fear, avoidance, or overwhelm. Together, we take a thoughtful, paced approach to behavioral change-supporting you in returning to the life you want, while gradually loosening the grip of rituals, compulsions, and rumination that keep you stuck. The goal is not to force change, but to help confidence grow through lived experience.

Many of the clients I work with carry a deep belief that they are “not enough.” In therapy, we gently turn toward that inner voice with curiosity and compassion, working to shift long-standing patterns through mindfulness, self-compassion, family-of-origin exploration, and new messages of self-worth. I truly believe no one is destined to live under the rule of an inner critic; self-trust and self-kindness can be learned.

Creating a space that feels safe, relaxed, and judgement-free is central to my practice. I’m committed to honoring each client’s lived experience, including the systemic and cultural factors that can make life-and therapy-more complex. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex-positive, and culturally affirming therapist, and I welcome clients exactly as they are.

At its heart, I see counseling as a collaborative process. My role is to listen deeply, reflect honestly, and meet you where you are. It’s to help you recognize your resilience, navigate challenges with greater clarity, and remember that life truly can get better-even when it doesn’t feel that way yet.

It would be a pleasure to work with you.

In addition to a concentrated focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy modalities through the Master’s and Doctoral work at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Cook has completed the BTTI’s intensive training course for treating OCD. Additional trainings have been gleaned in the areas of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), ADHD treatment, Mindfulness Self-Compassion, and Clinical Supervision.
